Hey Founder,

As a founder, seek opportunities where potential gains significantly outweigh possible losses. While you can reduce downside risk, eliminating it is impossible.

Focus on asymmetric opportunities, where stacked criteria (great management, fast pace, large industry, high capital returns) can lead to exponential outcomes— think 10x, 20x, or even 100x returns, not just 1.5x or 2x.

It comes down to four key principles:

  • Do Hard Things: Embrace challenges and get comfortable being uncomfortable. Growth often comes from facing and overcoming difficulties.
  • Do Your Thing: Pursue what you are passionate about, not what is easy or expected. Authentic enthusiasm leads to exceptional performance.
  • Do It for Decades: Longevity in your passion leads to mastery. Consistent improvement over time yields exponential results.
  • Write Your Story: Envision your ideal future and take steps toward it. Don't be confined by current limitations.

Now is the time to do hard things. There's something that you fear right now, that's exactly where you should go. You should be doing that thing. There's something you're putting off right now, you should be doing that thing.

Everything that you want is on the other side of worse first. Now is the time to do your thing.
